According to Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties, approximately six children a week check into their homeless shelter located in Elmira. Adults are given a small bag of hygiene products, however, the children do not receive anything.

The provisional members of the Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning would like to assemble "comfort bags" to be distributed to children upon check-in at the shelter. We would like to distribute a backpack to each child that contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, face towel, socks, stuffed animal, a journal/book, and a night/reading light.
